How it works

The loop

Real sweat is the only thing that moves you forward. Every set you finish and every mile you cover makes your character stronger and richer in Dravak.

01

Move

Train wherever you are. The gym, the park, the garage, the living room. Encounters adapt to the equipment you have available and the fitness goals you set, so the game meets you where you are.

02

Explore

Distance work like walking, running, swimming, and rowing carries you along the roads of Dravak. The further you travel in the real world, the more towns, ruins, and dungeons you unlock.

03

Conquer

Your workouts land the hits. Clear the fight for XP, loot, and Maxor, then take on the dungeon bosses. Every one you put down is something to show off.

What a fight actually looks like

In the game

Strength can slay these beasts in one slash. Stamina is what gets you out alive.

A Feral Imp Stalker in a burning street, with a Start Workout button below it

The fight waits for you

Feral Imp Stalker. Where any other RPG puts an Attack button, this puts Start Workout. Nothing happens until you go and do a set. The game deals you the exercises, the reps you finish and the weight you move turn into damaging blows.

An Ember Tyrant dragon, with the player's six consumable slots along the bottom of the screen

What you carry into battle

Ember Tyrant. Its name, then its defence, then its health. The bar across the bottom is yours, and the row under that is what you carry into battle.

The Forge

Why any of this

Dravak ran on the Great Forge. Every hammer strike and every hour of labour fed it, and while it burned the world held. Then people stopped. The fire dimmed, and the Rustborn came up out of the cold ash to take what was left.

You begin as a smith’s apprentice, making blades for warriors who keep dying with those blades still in their hands. No weapon you forge is enough, because the problem was never the steel.

Steel is nothing without the strength that swings it. If you would save this world, you must forge not weapons, but yourself. Kaelthar, the Iron Eternal

Veythos the Ashen told people the opposite, and they listened. That is the whole history. Everything that hunts you now was born from someone taking the easier option.

Aldenmoor

The heartland

Aldenmoor is the continent that is built and playable, and it is not one landscape. Snow and tundra run along the north. Desert takes most of the south and east. Between them are plains, deep forest, and mountain ranges that hold their snow all year. In the north-east there is a blighted red waste that nothing has taken back.

698 places sit on it, joined by 441 roads. Markets, mines, sacred groves, watchtowers, ports, bridges, and the dungeons you actually fight in. Between them the roads are not safe.

Drag to move around it. Scroll or pinch to get closer.

You do not browse this map. You cross it by training, and it opens as you go.

The world map under fog, with one small revealed circle around the starting city

The map starts dark

Day one. You get a small ring around your starting capital and fog over everything else. Arriving somewhere burns it back. The map you end up with is a record of where you have actually been.

The revealed world map showing the road network linking towns, mines and ruins

441 roads. Four thousand miles of them

Uncovered. Three King’s Highways run the length of the continent. The rest is 303 dirt roads, 67 trails and 68 water crossings. Most are short — the median run between two places is a little over three miles. The Highway is 1,382.

They connect 698 places across 39 kinds: 96 markets, 81 sacred groves, 49 mines, 46 dungeons, 35 ruins, 28 ports, 24 bridges, 16 cities, 3 capitals. Some of them sell things. Some are a hole in the ground with something already in it.

The landmasses of Dravak

The rest of Dravak

Every other landmass has a shape, a position and a name. What they do not have yet is ground you can walk on. They open one at a time.

Vaeltharr

The Unmade

Vaeltharr is where Veythos fell. When Kaelthar’s aspects finally caught the Betrayer, the fight went badly enough that the ground itself came apart. Veythos was not killed. He was driven down into the earth, and the continent is the wound that left.

Nothing holds there. It has no capital and no cities, because a city needs the ground to stay where you put it.

Every map of Vaeltharr is wrong. It changes while you draw it.

At the centre stands the Ashen Throne. It is plainly a monument, and nobody has been able to say to what. It is also the only thing on the continent that has never moved.

Your own ground

Planned, not in the alpha

The plan is that Dravak keeps growing because players build it. You buy land a tile at a time with Maxor, and Maxor only comes from work you actually did. Then you put something on it: roads, forest, a village, a blacksmith, a dungeon with a boss you designed and rewards you set.

A world is permanent once it exists. It stays on the map, it keeps its name, and it keeps whatever reputation it earns.

Other people reach it through portals. Your friends can always visit. Your guild can browse every world its members have built, which is how anyone finds anything without an algorithm deciding for them.

None of this is in the alpha yet. It is the direction, and it is why the empty continents matter.

Community

The board and the bulletin

Every number below was moved by a real body. The board reads live from the same place the game writes to, and it counts only work done outside the game — no potion, buff or piece of gear can add a rep to it.

    Factions and Guilds

    Who you stand with

Who will become the mightiest in Dravak?

Every player belongs to one of seven factions, chosen at character creation. Guilds sit underneath them. A faction is who you stand with — it never changes what your training is worth, and it never will.

    Faction standings

    Loading

Totals are the sum of Maxor earned by a faction’s members, and Maxor comes only from work done with a real body. Standing does not transfer: what you earned for one faction stays with it even if you leave.

      The factions

Each keeps a seat, a word it is held to, and a trial it asks of anyone who wants standing in it.

The Iron Brotherhood sigil: a square anvil with a hammer laid across it, its base still hot

      The Iron Brotherhood

      Seat Irongate, Aldenmoor

Smiths and furnace keepers. They keep the Forge Eternal lit and consider that the most important job anyone is currently doing.

“What I take in hand, I finish. What I break, I mend.”

The trial, and what they believe

Proof Something made. The trial is repair under use — a hinge, an axle, a roof brace that cannot be taken out of service. The Proof is the thing still working after you leave.

Creed Finish what you take up. Mend what you break. Ask who pays for the hour a shortcut saves.

Guilds A guild of this faction is a Forge, and the one who answers for it is a Forgehand.

Mark A square anvil with a hammer laid across it, its base still hot.

The Stone Order sigil: a brass-bound gatehouse standing between two peaks

      The Stone Order

      Seat Greyspire, Kharreth

Keepers of passes, bridges and records. They do not advance, and they do not give ground.

      “Preservation without possession.”

The trial, and what they believe

Proof Something preserved. Find what is at risk, record it accurately, stabilise it, and leave it where it belongs.

Creed Hold what already exists. Preserve without owning. Do not advance, and do not give ground.

Guilds A guild of this faction is a Hold, and the one who answers for it is a Bridgewarden.

Mark A brass-bound gatehouse standing between two peaks.

The Tidebound Compact sigil: a wave breaking over a trident

      The Tidebound Compact

      Seat Velmorath, the drowned coast

Captains, factors and salvagers. Uniformity is treated as evidence that somebody paid too much.

“The route is yours to choose. Arrive with it.”

The trial, and what they believe

Proof Something delivered. A sealed object, a named recipient, a deadline. Opening it fails. Arriving without it fails.

Creed The route is yours. Passage stays open to all seven, and salvage is not theft after repair.

Guilds A guild of this faction is a Crew, and the one who answers for it is a Free Captain.

Mark A wave breaking over a trident.

The Sunspire Covenant sigil: the sunspire obelisk dividing a low sun

      The Sunspire Covenant

      Seat the Sunspire, Sorath

Roadkeepers of a desert that goes on past the point of sense. The water they carry is never decoration.

“Leave enough for the next person to follow.”

The trial, and what they believe

Proof A journey completed. Travel between two named stations, verify every marker, record every failed well. Speed does not improve the result.

Creed Leave the road better marked than you found it. Speed does not improve the result.

Guilds A guild of this faction is a Caravan, and the one who answers for it is a Longstrider.

Mark The Sunspire obelisk dividing a low sun.

The Frostward Clans sigil: a wolf's head crowned with antlers

      The Frostward Clans

      Seat Frostmere, seven clans

Suspicious of heroic rescue performed once. Deeply impressed by somebody who arrives every sixth day with lamp oil.

“No one walks alone. No hearth closes while another lives.”

The trial, and what they believe

Proof Someone brought safely home. Judged on whether the whole party returns, searchers included. Finding the missing and losing another fails.

Creed Come back, and bring everyone with you. Arrive on the sixth day with lamp oil, not once with a rescue.

Guilds A guild of this faction is a Hearth, and the one who answers for it is a Hearthwarden.

Mark A wolf’s head crowned with antlers.

The Veiled Archive sigil: a clasped book, its key, and a moth at rest on the cover

      The Veiled Archive

      Seat Dunrock, the Archivist Society

Keepers of what the other six would rather was forgotten. Nothing taken from Dunrock is worn until it has stayed inert for a year.

      “Discovery under restraint.”

The trial, and what they believe

Proof Something discovered and correctly recorded. Locate it, record it, and return from it — the returning is half the trial.

Creed Find out, record it correctly, and survive the finding. Nothing is worn until it has been inert a year.

Guilds A guild of this faction is a Circle, and the one who answers for it is a First Reader.

Mark A clasped book, its key, and a moth at rest on the cover.

The Cinderwatch sigil: an iron brazier of banked coals

      The Cinderwatch

      Seat Ashkore, the caldera

They keep hazards from becoming emergencies. Bright flame is kept off their banners, because a real warning should not resemble decoration.

      “Prevention, through one full watch.”

The trial, and what they believe

Proof Something prevented. Hold a monitored hazard through a full watch and hand it on quieter than you found it.

Creed Stand the watch so that nothing happens. A real warning should not resemble decoration.

Guilds A guild of this faction is a Watch, and the one who answers for it is a Corewarden.

Mark An iron brazier of banked coals.

      Guilds

A guild sits under exactly one faction and cannot move between them. A guild that changes allegiance is not transferred — it closes, settles its debts, and is founded again. Guilds under the same faction are ranked against one another, week by week.

Guilds are made by players, not handed out. Anyone sworn to a faction can charter one. A name, a tag of two to five letters, a motto, and it stands from that moment. The tag is the guild’s address as well as its name, so bringing in the people you already train with is a matter of telling them what it is. A charter stands open to its faction while you are building a roll, and closes when you decide it is complete. Fifty to a guild.

Rank is not command. A Roadwarden cannot order anyone to fight; they sign the bridge inspection and are blamed when it falls. It records responsibility, and it is earned two ways at once. You need both the time and the work, because either one alone is gameable.

Contribution is summed from a guild’s own members rather than kept as a running total anyone can write to. That is a deliberate constraint: a shared counter that every member may add to is a counter every member may forge.

The one rule under all of it

A faction never decides what training pays. There is no strength faction and no endurance faction. Making the Brotherhood reward weight moved, or the Sunspire reward distance, would turn a moral choice into a fitness restriction — and force two friends who train differently to choose between playing together and training honestly. Factions pay out in banners, titles, hall pieces, armour treatments and contracts, none of which touch what a rep is worth.

      Built with Godot

RepForge was possible because of Godot’s great minds.

      Godot Engine

Godot is a free and open-source game engine under the MIT licence. Not free as in a trial, or free until you make money, or free until somebody changes the terms. Free as in there is no contract, no royalty, no per-seat cost and no revenue share — for anyone, forever, including us.

That is the only reason a two-person studio with no funding could build a game with 1,100 creatures in it. Every hour we did not spend earning back a licence fee went into the game instead. The full engine licence text ships inside RepForge, under Settings, alongside every other open-source project we depend on.

It is run by the Godot Foundation and paid for by donations. If you make things, or just want more of the tools you use to work like this, they take donations directly.

Godot and the Godot logo are trademarks of the Godot Foundation. Logo used under CC BY 4.0. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by the Godot Foundation — we just use the engine and think you should know that.

      What it came from

Shout-outs. These are the games that made me want to build something in the first place, and I took ideas from every one of them — art, design, mechanics, all of it. If you have not played them, go do that first. They are better than this.

      Questions

      Straight answers
      Is RepForge free?

Yes. RepForge is free to play, and there are no in-app purchases at launch.

      Are there ads?

No. There are no ads in RepForge, and nothing in the game will ever be interrupted by one. No banners, no interstitials, no rewarded video, no ad break between you and your workout.

How does the fitness part work?

You enter your workouts manually in the app. Every set and every mile you log makes your character stronger and richer in Dravak.

Does it connect to Apple Health, Google Fit, or my watch?

No. There is no Apple Health, Google Fit, or wearable integration. Workouts are entered by hand.

      Can I play it now?

RepForge is in alpha. The Discord is where testing and announcements happen, so that is the place to start.

      Who can play?

      RepForge is 18+ only.

      What is Maxor?

Maxor is the in-game currency of Dravak.

      Can I change faction later?

Yes. Your first switch is free, because a permanent choice made in the first sixty seconds of a game is a trap. After that it costs Maxor and carries a temporary mark. What you earned for a faction always stays with it, so there is nothing to gain by defecting to whoever is winning.

      How many creatures are there?

Over 1,100 across the regions of Dravak, and the list is still growing.

What do I need to sign up?

An email address and a password. That is the whole account.

What happens if I change phones?

Your progress is saved to your account, so sign in on the new phone and Dravak is where you left it.

      Is the merch for sale?

Not yet. Everything in the equipment division is a design study. Give a thumbs up to whatever you would want in a store and it moves up the list.

Where can I find places to workout at or people to workout with?

Go where people are already training. Below are real things other people run — free weekly run clubs, open sessions on public bars, community centre classes, learn-to-row courses, and races if you want one — all of which log straight into RepForge. None of them are ours, none of them pay us, and most are free.

Everything above belongs to somebody else.
